Understanding Traditional Teer Formulas

In Shillong and Khanapara Teer archery cultures, long-term participants and enthusiasts have developed various mathematical formulas to estimate targets. These are traditional numerical games based on yesterday's results, dates, and historical occurrences.

1. The Plus-Minus Formula

This is the most common technique. It takes the First Round and Second Round numbers of the previous day:

  • Addition: The numbers are added together. If the sum is greater than 99, only the last two digits are taken. For example, if yesterday's numbers were 45 and 82, the sum is 127, resulting in a target value of 27.
  • Subtraction: The smaller number is subtracted from the larger number. For yesterday's numbers 45 and 82, the difference is 37.

2. The Value / Partner Number Formula

In Teer mathematics, digits from 0 to 9 have "partner values" which represent their opposites (separated by a value of 5):

Digit 0 1 2 3 4
Partner 5 6 7 8 9

To find the partner value of a number, we replace each digit with its partner. For instance, the partner value of 45 is 90, and the partner value of 82 is 37. These partners are used as secondary estimates for house or ending digits.
